We’re pleased to welcome The Crown Estate as a new member of the Major Projects Association. We asked them to tell us more about their work, what they hope to gain from membership, and the experience and insights they look forward to sharing with our community.

The Crown Estate – who we are

The Crown Estate is an independent commercial business established by Act of Parliament, managing a diverse portfolio of land, property, coastline and seabed assets across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Operating across sea, land and city, we play a unique role as investor, asset manager, developer and partner, creating long-term financial, environmental, and social value for the nation. Our portfolio includes offshore wind, central London real estate, regional destinations, rural land, and strategic development opportunities, with all net revenue profit returned to HM Treasury for the benefit of the UK.

What we’re hoping to gain from membership of the Major Projects Association

We joined the Major Projects Association to learn from leading organisations delivering complex programmes and major projects across the UK. As The Crown Estate continues to strengthen its enterprise portfolio management and project delivery capability, we are keen to access practical insight, good practice, and peer learning in areas such as governance, assurance, prioritisation, benefits realisation and organisational readiness.

The Association’s cross-sector network provides a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, build capability, and continuously improve how we deliver long-term value through projects and programmes.

What we hope to contribute to the Association

Alongside learning from others, we are excited to contribute our own perspective as a unique organisation operating between the public and private sectors. The Crown Estate brings experience in sponsoring, shaping and delivering complex, long-term programmes and major projects across offshore wind, urban regeneration, strategic development, rural initiatives and sustainability-led investment.

We have developed expertise in working across multiple stakeholder groups, balancing commercial outcomes with public value, and bringing together government, industry, communities and delivery partners to unlock opportunities that no single organisation could deliver alone.

We look forward to sharing practical lessons in major project governance, portfolio management, assurance, benefits realisation and leadership, while contributing to the wider conversation on how organisations can successfully deliver complex programmes that create lasting economic, environmental and social value.

We’re pleased to welcome The Crown Estate to the Association and look forward to their involvement in our community.
