Nathan Millar of Elementa and Scott Smith of DAR Group explain: what sustainable service strategies should be employed to create adaptable/flexible buildings? What engineering strategies (all electric buildings, hydrogen boilers, and fuel cells) could be employed to see this transformation materialize.

The presenter for this event, in collaboration with Dar Group, will be Nathan Miller, Principal, Sustainability, Elementa. Scott Smith, Head of Sustainability, Dar Group UK will chair all three events in this series.

Nathan Millar, Principal, Sustainability, Elementa

Nathan is a Sustainability and Environmental Design specialist with over 15-years' experience working in the built environment. He has worked in both the public and private sector, developing and delivering sustainability strategies, environmental design guiance, and an interface between architects and engineers.

He currently leads Elementa's Sustainability and Environmental Design team in the UK and Europe, before which he worked at Foster + Partners, delivering a number of landmark global projects.

Scott Smith, Head of Sustainability, Dar UK

Scott Smith is the Head of Sustainability for Dar UK, and a principle member of the Sustainability Team for Dar Group. Scott has gained broad global experience in office, residential, retail, laboratory and government sustainable building service design in his 30 plus years as a Mechanical Engineer. He has learned to apply building physics and environmental design principles to create low carbon and sustainable engineering, architecture and urban design solutions throughout the world. 

Scott also manages the Dar UK BREEAM Business in providing sustainable certification for projects in London and throughout the UK. Scott is a BREEAM AP and LEED AP, and uses his knowledge of worldwide sustainable certification systems (BREEAM, LEED, GSAS, Estidama, etc.) to help and advise clients to create sustainable projects.
