What we are
The Major Projects Association is a community of practice that is run exclusively by its members, for its members. Members make up our Board and our volunteer committees which determine our programme of events, our studies and reports.
Members determine what topics matter to them and we create opportunities for those issues to be explored at large events, small discussions, online or in person. It is the commitment of our members towards a collective response to the challenges we all face within major projects which are the strength behind the Association.
What we do
Everything that we do is designed to be of tangible benefit to members, and member representatives are engaged at every stage of delivery. There are three key areas of engagement:
- Our Programme of Events
- Our Continuing Professional Development Programme
- Our commitment to Sharing Knowledge
The Programme of Events is devised each year in response to suggestions from members. Typically an annual programme would include a number of in-depth seminars, evening meetings, dinners, project site visits and a residential conference. There are no additional charges for most these events and members can send any number of delegates.
Our Continuing Professional Development Programme aims to provide opportunities for people at different points in their career to learn more about the particular challenges of working on major projects. We also provide professional mentoring for senior level managers.
Alongside the knowledge repository, the Association hosts and facilitates a regular programme of virtual events, webinars and workshops, which are open to all. We champion knowledge sharing initiatives from our members and provide tools such as discussion groups and roundtable events to connect members with the knowledge each of you can offer.
As well as sharing experience and ideas we believe that capturing and Sharing Knowledge in an accessible format is vital in order to learn from mistakes and improve performance.
Seminar Reports – We record all of our seminars and produce easy access pdf summaries and detailed reports which are available on our website following the event. This collection of seminar reports has developed into a fascinating library of major projects’ best practice which is available to members only via our knowledge repository.
