Unconscious Bias - how to understand and challenge it

Lunch Meeting

Mott MacDonald, 10 Fleet Place, London, EC4M 7RB

We all have biases; it is the natural way in which our brains help us to sort through the overload of stimulus we are exposed to everyday. However, the quick-think processes of our unconscious brain can mean we do not always make objective and unbiased decisions.

As part of our Gender Balance series of events, Richard Chapman-Harris, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Mott MacDonald, will be providing an interactive unconscious bias workshop for members of the Major Projects Association. During the session he will be answering the following questions:

1. What is Unconscious Bias?
2. What difference can it make?
3. How can we challenge it?

Target participants are those with people management, and recruitment or promotion responsibilities. The session will also be of interest to people looking for an insight into diversity and inclusion through the exploration of bias principles. Places are limited to 25 so we ask that only one person per organisation attends.
