Site visit to Tideway

Site Visit

Tideway, Kirtling Street (Nine Elms, Wandsworth)

Every year, tens of millions of tonnes of raw sewage discharges into the tidal River Thames from London’s Victorian sewers. To tackle this unacceptable problem Tideway is constructing the Thames Tideway Tunnel, a 25km long interception, storage and transfer tunnel under the Thames, collecting sewage from the 34 most polluting discharge points along the river. The Thames Tideway Tunnel is the largest privately financed infrastructure project in Europe.

Tideway will highlight the history of London's current sewerage network and how the £4.2 billion project will clean up the River Thames, deliver wider benefits to the community, and leave a lasting legacy for London.

During this visit to Kirtling Street, we will hear from some of the senior team (Richard Lewis and John Gullick) from Tideway about how this project is progressing.
