Will access to Big Data change the way we deliver major projects? Do we understand the risks?

Full Day Seminar

Institution of Civil Engineers, London, One Great George Street, London, SW1P 3AA

Mark Enzer, Chief Technical Officer, Mott MacDonald confirmed to Chair this event.

We are told that Big Data offers limitless opportunity to improve great swathes of our daily lives, from how we travel to how we are entertained, and everything in between. However, we also hear doom-laden scenarios of massive personal data breaches and the idea of imperfect algorithms ruling our lives. So, what is Big Data, really, and what are the opportunities and risks for its use in major projects?

We have only just begun to scratch the surface of what we can achieve when we unlock the value of data in major project environments. So, we need an informed view of how the industry can move forward, maximising the opportunities and minimising the risks. In a world where digital transformation is a reality, doing nothing on the subject of Big Data is just not an option.

Therefore, this seminar will bring together leading experts from diverse backgrounds to explore this important area from several key perspectives: commercial, technical, legal and security to name but a few. Together, they will help delegates to address the central questions:
• What is Big Data and what are the actual benefits it promises for major projects?
• What are the key risks of Big Data and how can we mitigate them?
