The arguments around the challenges of data sharing and pooling are well rehearsed: what does governance look like? How do we ensure that the data is secure when we need it to be. Who owns the insights generated? How do we control access to appropriate parties? How do we layer the data? How do we anonymise the data? What about the commercial or reputational risks?
On the other hand, the benefits both to the industry as a whole and those parties who are willing and able to share their data promise to be extraordinary. We provide the volume of data to underpin machine learning and AI, leveraging the rich seam of data that would otherwise be underexploited. More than that, many of the emerging models of project working are dependent the major project’s industry willingness and capability to share, whether that be whole-life management of large projects; improved project productivity, outcomes and performance; our ability to deliver complex projects with the requisite level of innovation and experimentation. And for those organisations who struggle with the quality of their own data, or the roadmap to an AI enabled future, the data sharing process offers a way of understanding and learning the value of coherent data and how to achieve it.
Sir Robert McAlpine and Projecting Success have been pioneering the process of data sharing and analytics. The purpose of this MPKHLive event is twofold: to share the experience of some of this pioneering work and to provide a platform for other companies in the major projects supply chain to join them, with a call and commitment to action.
Come and join Gareth Parkes, Knowledge Manager at Sir Robert McAlpine; Martin Paver, CEO of Projecting Success and the driving force behind the ~4,000 strong Project Data Analytics community and [third panellist to be nominated] to her their experience, share your own and confront the panel with questions or challenges of your own. As part of the event, we will provide delegates with the opportunity to articulate your own commitment to data sharing and a platform for building collaboration.
