Learning lessons from sports projects Full Report

Few occasions in life have the ability to engage families and nations in the way that global sporting events achieve. Behind the huge commercial engine of London 2012 and the charitable and personal endeavours of the London Marathon, are major projects, which by their very nature capture the heart of not just national, but international audiences.

Every year the proverbial bar of expectation raises progressively higher, creating more pressure on organisers to meet and exceed the extraordinary promises and expectations of myriad stakeholders. Not forgetting the relentless scrutiny of social media.

Viewed through the lenses of different stakeholder perspectives this seminar considers and number of themes which might apply in other contexts:
• How do the organisers of major annual sporting events capture and use feedback to remain successful?
• How can these lessons be shared with and applied by organisers of ‘one time’ mega projects?
• How do you manage relationships between political, commercial, competitor and spectators groups, particularly under the spotlight of intense (global) media coverage? To what extent do they influence delivery & decision making throughout the project lifecycle?

Commences at 13:30 hrs for an afternoon seminar and concludes with an evening speaker at 20:00 hrs
