Blueprint for livable economies

This report by KPMG, developed in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Davos Baukultur Alliance, draws on global case studies, executive insights and policy analysis to examine how cities can deliver better economic, social and environmental outcomes.

The report argues that many urban challenges arise from fragmented planning, siloed funding and project-by-project investment decisions. In response, it proposes a “blueprint” framework that links livability outcomes, economic development and supporting urban systems to guide more integrated, place-based decision-making.

The framework is structured around three layers: people and place, economy, and systems, supported by cross-cutting enablers such as collaborative governance, integrated funding and shared data standards. Together, these elements are intended to help cities align strategy, investment and delivery around long-term place outcomes.
