Delivering sustainability for Games venues and infrastructure

Summary

London 2012 proposed to host the Games using a significant amount of temporary venues and infrastructure. It was important to ensure that the sustainability objectives of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) were adopted in the design, build, operation, decommissioning and reinstatement of the venues that met the needs of all Games functions, including logistics, catering and waste, and client groups, including athletes and spectators. This case study provides an overview of the development and implementation of the sustainability strategy for the temporary venues and infrastructure.
