Development and application of a carbon footprinting methodology for the Games

Summary

In support of London 2012’s commitment to deliver a low carbon Games, it was essential to try and predict where significant emissions would arise and seek to avoid, reduce, replace or otherwise compensate for them. Existing carbon accounting and reporting standards, were unsuited for use with events so the standards were adapted for London 2012, and the methodology documented as a legacy learning outcome for other world-class events.
