Fatigue Management

Summary

Fatigue has the potential to have a significant impact on safety, performance and health. In the construction industry fatigue management focuses on the risks associated with shiftwork, rather than a whole system approach which includes the environment in which its staff live and work and the individual susceptibility. Following a review of the research on fatigue and good practice used in the construction and other high risk industries a toolkit was developed. Providing a set of benchmarks to create a step change in fatigue management in the construction industry.

This paper will be of benefit to all major projects looking to implement a fatigue management programme.
