Summary
An important element in the planning of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was the use of mapping and geospatial information (GI). Over 20 million spectator journeys were made during the Games. It was imperative that spectators, athletes, media and officials, as well as Londoners attempting to continue their everyday lives, were able to get to their respective destinations on time and with minimal difficulty. GI played a key role in both the planning of measures to keep London moving and then the distribution of information about these plans to the people that they affected.
