Sizewell C

This National Audit Office report provides the first comprehensive assessment of the Sizewell C project following the UK government’s final investment decision in 2025 and the completion of financing arrangements later that year. Sizewell C is a new large-scale nuclear power station being developed in Suffolk, intended to generate low-carbon electricity for the equivalent of six million homes and support the UK’s long-term energy security and net-zero objectives. The report was written to examine the rationale for the project, the structure of the financing and delivery model, and the implications of the investment deal for taxpayers, electricity consumers and private investors. It also establishes a baseline for future scrutiny, setting out the project’s expected costs, schedule, key risks and governance arrangements against which progress and value for money can be assessed over the coming decades.
