Summary
As the Official Logistics Provider to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), UPS was responsible for the movement of some 30 million items ranging from boats to bean bags. Five strategies were adopted to minimise the environmental impacts from the operation: modal shift; efficient road and warehousing operations; alternative fuels and clean diesels; carbon measurement and mitigation; and waste management.
