Diversity in major projects has been a priority for the Association since 2015, when we launched our Gender Balance Initiative with strong support from members. What began as a focus on gender has since widened to encompass all aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion, recognising the disproportionate impacts different groups face and the value that diverse voices bring to better outcomes. In our 2021–2025 strategy, diversity was one of three landmark objectives, supported by initiatives such as the Inclusion Hub and the “Inclusion Moment”.

In our new strategy taking us to 2030 we have taken this further: EDI is no longer a standalone objective but a core value, embedded across all our activities and networks. Our aim is to lead best practice in inclusion so that it becomes business as usual in the initiation, delivery and outcomes of major projects.

Inclusion Hub

The Inclusion Hub is a collaborative forum for members who are passionate about advancing diversity and inclusion across major projects. It provides a space to share best practices, explore effective initiatives, and support one another in driving meaningful and measurable change within our organisations.

The Hub meets four times a year, bringing together individuals who are committed to making a difference.

Inclusion Moments

Inclusion Moments are a simple but powerful way to keep equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do. At the start of our events, a speaker takes a few minutes to share an insight, story, or challenge that prompts reflection on inclusion. These short contributions set the tone for the discussion ahead, reminding us that inclusion is not a separate exercise but something to embed in our everyday practice.

Since their introduction in 2024, Inclusion Moments have covered themes from bias in AI to the power of allyship. You can read the transcripts from those moments, so you can reflect, revisit, and share the insights.
