Who Are Our Members?

We’re proud to have 97 member organisations driving major projects in every corner of the economy. Spanning a diverse range of project types and sectors, our members include clients, contractors, consultants, and other key suppliers, as well as leading academic institutions. Together, they shape projects across multiple sectors from digital transformation and energy to transport, defence, and beyond, while our academic members help turn cutting-edge research into real-world results.

Our Main Representatives

Membership is maintained through our Main Representatives – many of whom, in the spirit of community, are happy to share their contact details.  If you work for one of our member organisations and would like to get more involved do get in touch with your Main Representative as a first step.

Membership Ambassadors

The role of a Membership Ambassador is to support the Main Representative to make the most of membership. Responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Main Rep to advise on who may be appropriate to attend and/or contribute to Major Projects Association events and activities.
• Identifying whether your organisation should be represented as either speakers or delegates.
• Helping to circulate reports

We encourage members to identify several Membership Ambassadors who can help the Main Rep, perhaps rotating every year or 18 months.

Sustainability Ambassador Network

The Sustainability Ambassador Network is a member-led collaborative working forum on the topics of environmental sustainability and climate change. The purpose of the network is to seek and champion good practice and effective initiatives that can deliver a step change in the performance of our member organisations in the initiation and delivery of major projects that are consistent with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – particularly on the following three themes of carbon & climate; biodiversity & nature; resilience and adaptation.

Our goal is to move major projects from being part of the problem in terms of environmental impact to being part of the solution in terms of enabling commitments to net zero and biodiversity net gain to be met and for a shift from a narrow focus on carbon reduction to a broader approach that strives towards restoration and regeneration.

In addition to specific working groups which are set up to progress a particular task/objective, the network meets regularly throughout the year through webinars/meet-ups which generally include guest speakers from across membership and externally. The Association also committed to making one of our eight seminars each year to be on the topic of sustainability which the sustainability ambassadors help curate.

Inclusion Hub

The Inclusion Hub is a collaborative forum for members who are passionate about advancing diversity and inclusion across major projects. It provides a space to share best practices, explore effective initiatives, and support one another in driving meaningful and measurable change within our organisations.

The Hub meets four times a year, bringing together individuals who are committed to making a difference.

Project Sponsors Network

The Project Sponsors Network, which is hosted and facilitated by the Major Projects Association provides a peer-to-peer community for sponsors across industries to share knowledge, expertise and learn and develop skills for a role which has no formal career path. The vision of the Network underpins the activities and events that we undertake:

• Sponsors are empowered to focus on outcomes, insist on value for money and embed sustainability targets at all stages of the investment.
• Sponsorship is a well respected an integral component of the project profession and attracts the best people from diverse backgrounds, ages and career stages.
• There is a variety of support material, networking opportunities and collaboration between theory and practice for Sponsors to develop and thrive in their chosen profession.
• The role is well defined in the literature and well understood across organisations and industry. Sponsors can develop their career while working with a variety of organisations and with support from an active professional community. A competency framework enables fair and consistent assessment of capability and recruitment.
• Project organisations reward and recognise the contributions made by Sponsors. The profession promotes its members and communicates successes.

The Network meets several times a year, either virtually or physically, to listen to and learn from the stories of sponsors and work together to build shared capability.

Social Value Forum

The Major Project Social Value Forum is a collective of passionate people, dedicated to enhancing social value delivery on major projects, now and in the future. We deliver regular events and opportunities to collaborate with the aim of bringing together major projects from across the UK to:

• Improve social value performance through shared learning across industries, sectors and organisations
• Drive efficiencies and outcomes through collaboration
• Improve skills and knowledge in social value including training and development
• Drive consistency in the sharing of social value approaches and benchmarking of performance
• Deliver thought leadership in social value to improve outcomes for all!

Transformation Network

The purpose of the network:

1. To improve transformational projects and programmes, the outcome of which is an irreversible step change in organisational capability.
2. By converting cross-sector practitioner experience into a catalyst for learning that strengthens confidence in project outcomes; certainty, adoption and public confidence, within a confidential, non-commercial community of practice.
3. By end-2027, the Transformation Network is the UK’s most trusted community of practice for transformational projects and programmes known for identifying success factors and recurring failure modes early, sharing knowledge and insights that are actually used and can be applied flexibly with credibility.
