We’re doing something different for our annual conference this year – for obvious reasons. We’ve added a Fringe.

The main conference programme has been split into two virtual half day sessions, one on the 15th of September and one on the 9th October.

In the three weeks in between we are weaving a programme of fringe events; a variety of events and activities all linked closely to the emotional intelligence theme of the main programme.

The idea is to use the virtual environment as an opportunity and a platform to involve as many of our members – whether you are attending the main conference or not – in as rich and diverse a emotional intelligence soup as we can create. In place of the stand-ups, the comedy clubs and the musical comedians of the Edinburgh Fringe, you’ll find improvisation (People Deliver Projects), readings (our Conference Book Club Sessions), an interview (with Kathryn and Frances Nichols), workshops (on your EI profile and on Transactional Analysis), a roving guest blogger and more.

You’ll find the emerging programme for the Fringe below. I encourage you to bookmark this page and keep returning to it to check for new events as we add them. Follow the links for more information and to book your places.

Date Fringe Event
17th September Psychological Safety: A Roundtable discussion

In this roundtable discussion we will hear from someone who has experienced a workplace where they did not feel psychologically safe. We will explore the impact that this had upon the ability for colleagues to deliver their project as well as the impact upon the individual’s mental health and confidence.

Lumina Sparq Profile

A chance for you to profile your own personality and your emotional intelligence, including a workshop by Dr. Stewart Desson of Lumina Learning to explain what the results mean

22nd September Meet the Author: NLP for Project Managers

The first of our book club sessions involves Peter Parkes author of ‘NLP for Project Managers’, which has become the go-to guide to the theory and the live experience of the author.

28th September What Makes You Tick … and Everyone Around You?

A workshop on Transactional Analysis delivered by our Knowledge Manager, Jonathan Norman and Dr. Mike Clayton of OnlinePMCourses

29th September Engaging at the Emotional Level

Replacing live theatre with interactive video, this facilitated workshop will use a metaphoric project story to provoke and carry the learning.  Around the story episodes, there will be audience interaction: in breakouts, quizzes, polls and even experimentation, where the audience can choose how they want the behaviour of the characters, and so the story, to change.  No one will be bored, we promise.

1st October Enabling Collaboration

Constructive Collaboration with members of Heathrow Airport and their Constructor Partners tell the story Emotional Intelligence is actually playing in delivering collaborative success.

PMO Flashmob meets Emotional Intelligence

A brilliant event from the team at PMO Flashmob on the value of significance of EI for PMO work

6th October Meet the Author: The Project Book

The second of our Book Club sessions with unconventional project manager and author, Colin D. Ellis

7th October Psychological Safety: A Roundtable discussion

A repeat of the earlier roundtable discussion in which we will hear from someone who has experienced a workplace where they did not feel psychologically safe. We will explore the impact that this had upon the ability for colleagues to deliver their project as well as the impact upon the individual’s mental health and confidence.

15th October QUBE@Work: Emotionally Intelligent Projects

90 minutes of collaborative working in the extraordinary immersive, 3D environment called QUBE as we explore what EI means in a world in which collaboration is increasingly virtual
