A Well-Adapted UK

A Well-Adapted UK is the Climate Change Committee’s Fourth Independent Assessment of UK Climate Risk (CCRA4-IA), prepared under the Climate Change Act 2008 to inform the UK’s statutory Climate Change Risk Assessment. It provides an independent, evidence-based assessment of current and future climate risks, and is intended to support adaptation planning across the UK.

The assessment draws on the accompanying CCRA4 Technical Report, commissioned research, expert analysis, stakeholder engagement and public participation. It examines climate risks across 14 interconnected systems, assessing current and future risks by considering climate hazards, exposure, vulnerability and adaptation options.

As well as assessing climate risks, the report proposes a framework for adaptation, including objectives, targets and indicators to support planning, decision-making and the monitoring of progress. It is intended to provide a consistent evidence base for governments and organisations preparing for the impacts of climate change.
